MyTable

Privacy policy

Last updated 11 October 2026

Draft. This wording is not final yet and may change before it is approved.

MyTable is the online booking system that restaurants, cafés and bars use to take table bookings. This policy explains what happens to your personal information when you book a table through MyTable, under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

The venue you book with decides how it uses your booking. MyTable stores and handles your details on the venue's behalf. A venue may also have its own privacy policy, which its booking page links to.

What we collect

When you make a booking, we collect:

  • your name, mobile number and email address
  • the date, time and size of your booking, and the area you chose
  • any dietary requirements you give, such as vegetarian or a nut allergy
  • anything you write in the requests box, such as an allergy or a special occasion
  • a record of changes to your booking, and whether you arrived

The venue's staff may add notes to your booking. To protect the booking page from misuse, we briefly use your device's internet address to limit how many bookings can be made from it; we do not keep it with your booking.

Why we collect it

  • to hold your table and let the venue prepare for your visit
  • to send you your confirmation, and emails when your booking is changed or cancelled
  • to let you change or cancel your booking online
  • to let the venue contact you about your booking

We do not sell your information, and we do not send you marketing. Booking emails are about your booking only.

Where it is kept, and who it is shared with

Your booking is stored on servers in Australia. It is shared with the venue you booked with, and with no other venue.

Booking emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service that runs on Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) in the United States. To deliver an email, your email address and the booking details in that email are sent to the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure the provider protects them.

How long it is kept

We keep your booking for as long as the venue uses MyTable, so the venue has a record of its bookings and visits. When a venue stops using MyTable, its bookings are deleted. Backups are kept for up to 30 days, then deleted. If you ask for your details to be deleted, we remove your name and contact details and keep only an anonymous count of the booking.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your details

You can ask to see the details held about you, to correct them, or to have them deleted. Ask the venue you booked with: you can reply to any booking email to reach them. The venue will pass your request to MyTable if it needs our help. We will answer within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are worried about how your information has been handled, tell us first, the same way as above. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. See also our terms.
